从理论和实证两方面的分析表明，进出口贸易对经济增长的作用机制是非常复杂的，不能简单地得出促进或阻碍经济增长的结论。但进出口贸易对经济增长的作用机制的客观存在，又提示人们进出口贸易引致经济增长风险的可能性。从我国进出口贸易引致经济增长风险的程度度量来看，尽管由进出口贸易直接引致中国经济增长风险的可能性很小，但进出口贸易却可通过其他因素引致经济增长风险，因此，进出口贸易又是防范中国经济增长风险过程中必须要监控的重要指标因素。
