婆罗门文化通过直接传入和借助佛教经典的间接介绍，对中国的神话和小说产生了不少影响，一些脍炙人口的故事主角和情节都可以在婆罗门文化里找到源头。中国的神话，自两汉开始丰满起来，中国的小说，自唐宋以降才蓬勃发展。这些与包括婆罗门教在内的外来印度宗教文化之刺激影响，不言而喻有着很大的关系。

Brahman culture, through direct transmission and indirect introduction via Buddhist Sutras, has exerted great influence on Chinese mythology and novels. The characters and story lines in some widely-spread stories reflect the elements of Brahman culture. The phenomenon that Chinese mythology hasn't become abundant until the Han Dynasty and Chinese novels haven't begun to flourish until the Tang and Song Dynasties is obviously related to the stimulation and influence of Brahmanism and other elements of imported religious Indian culture.
