Abstract:

There exist great differences in Chinese and Japanese textbooks dealing with the Japanese novels on World War Ⅱ. This paper examines these differences in terms of a historical understanding of the novels and their negative impact. As Japanese textbooks, they will exert an influence on Japanese younger generations on their views about World War Ⅱ, whereas in China they will lead to a misreading of the Japanese novels, thus greatly affecting a general understanding of the Japanese aggressive war on China at the level of history.

Key words: Japanese novels on World War Ⅱ, historical truth, literary misreading, historical understanding
