On the Methodological Significance of Feng Qi's Researching into the History of Chinese Modern Philosophy

Abstract:

Feng Qi's unique conception of the history of philosophy, which was formed in his researching into the history of modern Chinese philosophy, underlines the following three aspects.Firstly, it emphasizes that philosophy should be concerned with the issues of the times.Secondly, it differentiates the modern tradition from the ancient tradition of Chinese philosophy.Thirdly, it highlights the connection between philosophy and ideas in other fields so as to expand the scope of the study of modern Chinese philosophy, This conception of the history of philosophy has great methodological significance for the study of the history of philosophy in the 19th and the 20th centuries.
