The Shortcomings of the Phonetic Notations of Hanyudazidian in the Perspective of Guangyun

Abstract:

Guartgyun is the representative of Chinese phonology in middle ancient times. It is also the phonetic basis for notating the pronunciation of the Chinese characters. The pronunciation of the Chinese characters in Hanyudazidian is notated according Guangyun. However, in checking Hanyudazidian in the perspective of Guartgyun, we find various mistakes in its phonetic notation. Some of them even have to do with with the principles and the criteria of the notation of pronunciation.
