Abstract: To explain a concept of state based on historical situations is better and more precise than from perspective of instrumentalism or expressionism. This thesis attempts to recognize the heritage of Marx in the intellectual history, clarify Marx’s concept of state in the tradition of Marxism and the tradition of western thought in general, and understand clearly the features and connotations of Marx’s concept of state. Hereby we recognize the relation between the self and history, and, more importantly, prevent the arbitrary dispelling of the self so as to transform the “personal” control to the “interdependence of united individuals”.
