Abstract: Folklore genealogy, which manifests itself in the aspects of group, space, time and structure, provides an important angle and methodology for studying culture from an integrate, interrelated and structural perspective. As a sub-system of folklore genealogy, the genealogy of faiths has its structure. This thesis studies the religious faiths on the islands in the East China Sea and finds out that its faith genealogy demonstrates the complexity of folklore genealogy. Moreover, the islands in the East China Sea constitute a protective barrier for national security, where the common nature of faiths among the people provides a resource for culture identity, which plays an important role in constructing the security of the East China Sea. So it is important to examine the cultural integrity and coherence on these islands to improve the regional security construction. Therefore, the case study of the faith genealogy on these islands has profound significance in the cultural history and high value in national cultural identity.
