Abstract:
In the face of the unprecedented achievements since the reform and opening-up, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, many overseas historical sociologists have attempted to apply the “Bring the State Back In” paradigm to explain the governance advantages of China’s reform in focusing on major issues, but this understanding cannot explain the unique governance context of China, the governance premise of the unified leadership of the Party, and the governance purpose of protecting the people. For decades, the task of liberating and developing productive forces has been promoted through reform, and comprehensive deepening has been achieved through innovative development. The milestone of achieving a moderately prosperous society in all respects reflects the Party’s adherence to the original intention of reform, and has enabled governance to complete a paradigm shift towards localization. Looking to the future, further comprehensive deepening of reform should establish mature discourse of governance by enhancing the well-being of the masses to maintain the people-oriented nature of discourse, leading technological changes to enrich the era connotation of discourse, overcoming risks and challenges to enhance the practical effectiveness of discourse, and constructing a reform narrative that is globally oriented and locally rooted.
