Abstract:

Those literary imaginations in novels on China's agricultural cooperation between 1950's and 1970's had an obviously illusory nature. They originated from thinking principles of ideology to reality, but neglected the commitment of the cooperative movement to change rural economical and material life. As a result, the serious logic of life was completely taken place by ideological illusions, which had their special forms and structures in novels and represented an ideological experience improved by imagination. This leads to an evaluation problem concerning the illusion of such a literary imagination. On the other hand, the reading context of novels on agricultural cooperation has not yet gone beyond the limit of ideology. If we point out that what this kind of novels pursues is a "false consciousness", we do not mean that there is an objective "true consciousness". Therefore, the evaluation of novels on the 1950's -1970's agricultural cooperative movements should not depend on "true" or "false", but should be based on how close to reality they are.
